Minister's Welcome

Welcome! I, as well as the rest of the Fellowship, are so glad you’re reaching out to us.

I arrived in Anchorage in the midst of the pandemic to serve the Anchorage Unitarian Universalist
Fellowship (AUUF). Yes, it was a strange time to relocate, and the community here at AUUF has been
wonderful as they welcomed me over Zoom, and in-person when possible. Although I have yet to meet
all our members and friends, I can tell you that those I have met so far are caring and compassionate
people. Guided by our Unitarian Universalist principles, they use their own life experiences, the
religious exploration AUUF offers, and the relationships they build here as the foundation for living and
promoting their positive values out in our world. Probably my favorite thing about the folks here at
AUUF is that they cheerfully embrace their human fallibility. At the same time, they continue to explore,
learn, and grow as they journey together.

Please take your time as you explore our website or stop by for a worship service, children’s religious
exploration, Forum, or other AUUF activity. If you haven’t already, you might want to check out the
Unitarian Universalist Association’s website at uua.org. We are a member of this organization, along
with hundreds of other congregations in the United States and abroad, but because our governance is
based locally, all our congregations have their own unique flavor.

As we come out of the pandemic, we’re still adjusting our Sunday schedule a bit, so please check our
website or call before coming on a Sunday morning. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please
don’t hesitate to reach out to me (revlise@anchorageuuf.org), our office (admin@anchorageuuf.org), or
our Connections Team (connections@anchorageuuf.org) for conversation, if not all the answers.

Blessings, Rev. Lise

Introducing Rev. Lise Sherry

AUUF Contract Minister

Rev. Lise grew up in Oregon as part of a blended family that got along amazingly well together.  Her main interests growing up were dancing and theatre--she performed a lot!  Another highlight was learning French and spending her junior year of college in France.

Lise is married to Nelson and together they have two boys (Kennen, 25 and Derek, 22).  They’ve lived in Alaska, British Columbia, Oregon, Illinois and Massachusetts.

Lise received her M.Div. from Meadville Lombard in Chicago.  Her religious life is informed by nature, Buddhism and the Judeo-Christian tradition.  Social justice, multi-generational worship services, and pastoral care are some of her favorite parts of ministry.  Lise also enjoys hiking, bicycling, reading, gardening, movies, traveling and learning about other cultures.  Her first day with us is August 2, 2020; she is looking forward to learning about and sharing ministry adventures with AUUF.

The Reverend Lise Adams Sherry (pronouns: she, her, hers)

Unitarian Universalist Minister
