Committees and Affiliated Organizations

Here is an overall view of our regular activities at the Anchorage Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Members and friends are encouraged to participate and volunteer. If you yearn for an activity we don't have we invite you to organize it!

For current activities see our monthly newsletter, the LOG, and the bulletin boards in the social room. Also see each Sunday's order of service, which announces the events of the week, including some that were scheduled too late to be included in THE LOG. If you have questions please phone the contact persons listed below or the office (248-3737). All meetings are open unless announced otherwise, except for Board retreats and the Board's rare executive sessions. All meetings are at the church unless otherwise noted.

AUUF Sponsored Activities and Committees

ALLIANCE

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Ten members elected by the congregation serve overlapping two-year terms. Usually meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Agendas and minutes are posted on the bulletin boards.

HUNGRY BOOK CLUB

Meets on the third Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. for a potluck supper. The books to be discussed cover a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction and are usually announced in the LOG a month or two in advance. It isn't necessary to have read the book in order to participate in this congenial supper gathering.

POTLUCK SUPPERS

For anyone and everyone! A 6:30 PM social hour precedes this potluck, held at 7:00 on the second Friday of each month. Bring any sort of food or beverage and enjoy the company..

UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST COMMUNITY SERVICES (UUCS)

Functions as a separate nonprofit (incorporated) organization to carry out social justice projects. Member dues are $5.00 per year..

OTHER UU GROUPS IN ALASKA

UU groups also exist in Fairbanks, Homer, Juneau, Kodiak, Seward, Sitka, and Soldotna-Kenai. Call the AUUF office, 248-3737 for contact numbers.

OTHER ORGANIZATIONS

These organizations meet in our building and welcome inquiries and visitors.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS: the SLAP HAPPY CHAPTER meets in our social room every Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. and Thursdays at noon and the LOST AND FOUND CHAPTER meets Monday - Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M.

PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays)

Dedicated to strengthening the relationships between gays and lesbians and their families. Holds monthly support meetings with open and frank discussion third Tuesdays at 7.OO p.m. Sometimes the meeting is preceded by a potluck, which begins earlier. Voice mail: 566-1813.
