Summer 2010 Events
for Visitors, Newcomers, and Members

Our church year is roughly divided into three parts:  Fall (September – December), Spring (January – May), and Summer (June - August).  For Newcomers, New Members, and curious Visitors, we have a Newcomer Lunch, a Volunteer Fair, a series of Pathways to Community evening sessions, and a New Member Welcome Ceremony in Fall and again in Spring.  We also have Circle Dinners, Game Nights, Annual Dinner, and other get-togethers.

Summer is different.  Many of our members take vacations; explore the wondrous outdoors on foot, bicycles, kayaks, and airplanes; and live differently in the long summer days. AUUF does have some interesting events for Newcomers and Regulars. These are listed below, but call the Fellowship office, 248-3737, for more information.

ALL SUMMER

Sunday Services: The 9 am Forum Service and the 11 am Worship Service will continue all summer. The 1:30 pm Contemporary Service will go on hiatus until Fall.

Religious Exploration for Children and Youth: From June 6 through August 29, RE will have invited guests who have traveled the world to present interesting stories and crafts.

Hungry Book Club: Second Tuesday of each month. Potluck, 7 pm, in members’ homes. All welcome whether you’ve read the book or not. Call Susie at 696-7337 for place.

Monday Meditation: Call Fellowship office for meeting time and place.

Small Groups: One small group is meeting during the summer. Another could be formed if interest exists. Contact person is Susan Orlansky at  248-1141 (h) or 677-8306 (w) or by e-mail: orlansky@frozenlaw.com

JUNE

Annual Picnic: June 6, Fish Creek Park, 12:30 pm – 3 pm. Fellowship provides hot dogs and hamburgers; Alliance provides drinkables. Everything else is potluck. Everyone is welcome at this fine opportunity to meet and mix informally.

JULY

Whale Coast UUs (on tour): July 14 + 15. Local UUs host these visitors from Lower 48 for two nights. On the 15th, AUUF will host a potluck dinner at the Fellowship to meet them all. Call Fellowship office for exact time.

Chicago Children's Choir: July 8 performance is a thank you for our providing housing for many of the choir members for two nights. Call AUUF office for time and place.

AUGUST

SEPTEMBER
